ABOUT
The Parking Lot Art Fair was a project conceived by artist, Jenny Sharaf as an alternative to the bevy of exclusive art fairs presented in San Francisco during the time. Titled, The Parking Lot Art Fair, the was held in a large section of the parking lot adjacent to the other art fairs at Fort Mason in San Francisco. Fair goers would walk and drove through this fair on their way to and from the others. Artists were invited to use one parking space and transform it as they see fit.

I chose to rent a Uhaul cube truck and transform the interior space into an immersive installation where passers by could enter. The concept was generated from a painting I had completed earlier that year entitled “Oh, You Shouldn’t Have.” The installation consists of 2 paintings, hand block printed wall paper, 2 plaster sculptures, 6 mirrors and astro-turf. The shapes in the wallpaper and sculptures are derived from shapes within the “empty” bouquet depicted in the painting.
