The Painting Salon

Cate Nelson served as Co-Director of The Painting Salon from 2015-2017. She received an Alternative Exposure grant from Southern Exposure in San Francisco to support 2017 programming including stipends for presenting artists and support for the development of a website with online archive.

Description Of The Project

The Painting Salon is monthly nomadic lecture series where artists present their work in various galleries, studios, and arts organizations throughout the Bay Area. The series fosters community by bringing together artists, gallerists, curators and the public in an intimate setting where guests are invited to ask questions in a casual, inviting atmosphere. We ask that everyone bring a snack or beverage to share and dedicate time for new connections to be made and discussion to ensue.
